You Are In Control

Have you ever been around that friend who is always freaking out about every little detail going on in their life?

How does being around that person make you feel?

Have you ever noticed when you are around certain people, your mood, energy, and feelings change a bit?

That’s the way it goes folks!

Whatever we focus on is what we get!

If we allow our minds to think about things in a stressful way, that’s how we will see them. This is a total mind trap. Think about anything you stress about. Where did that begin? Did you let someone else’s perspective impact how you think?

We all do!

That stops today.

Today we realize we are in control of how we think about things.

...and yes, I mean ANYTHING!

The power of our mind is so incredibly powerful. When we think something is going to be awful, stressful or just plain bad, more than likely that’s how things will play out. On the flip side, if we realize we have the CHOICE to decide how we think about things, we can empower ourselves to put things in perspective.

Negative Thoughts

These are a total trap. Negative thoughts convince us that we cannot do something or that whatever we are trying to do will be so difficult to accomplish.

When I am around people who think this way, it CAN impact my thoughts...if I let it.

Sadly they have developed a pattern neurologically in their mind that anything new, different or challenging is bad. They live in fear and can see growing as a scary thing.

This takes time to evolve and takes time to break the habit.

How do you get out of this negative thinking pattern?

One day at a time. This sounds very Jedi, but being mindful of your thoughts and how you are thinking about things is HUGE! When you find yourself thinking something negative, stressful or fearful, stop yourself and recognize it. That one little step can redirect the thinking. From there, try to remind yourself that you are in control of how you react to your world because you are!

Replacing “I can’t” with “I can” is so powerful. Whatever we tell ourselves is what we will become!

Positive Thoughts

This doesn’t mean that you are always a beaming ray of sunshine skipping down the yellow brick road. It just means that you are in control of your thoughts and you realize that this is YOUR life and you have the power to decide how you are going to see it.

Be grateful for what you have, not upset about what you don’t have.

Be patient when learning something new, not frustrated when you don’t get something the first time.

Be alright with failing. If you failed that means you tried. That’s a WHOLE LOT better than not even trying.

Realize that you are a living, growing, breathing creature that is possible of anything when you are willing to work for it.

I once read that people can take on the limiting beliefs of others as their own.

That all goes back to who you surround yourself with. If I surround myself with people who are full of life, support me, love me, want me to succeed, grow and learn, I cannot help but be the best version of me possible.

The Choice

Yes, we all have a choice to realize we are in control or allow the world around us to control who we are and who we will become.

Wow. Reading that makes me feel like there is a choice, but one I really want and the other...not so much.

Each day is a new beginning in the path of who you are becoming. Realize that we are all human, we will stumble, we will fall and we CAN all get back up.

That’s the goal, keep getting back up, moving forward and making the choices that are going to get you where you want to go.
